Schedule & Topics
(All Times are Eastern Standard Time)
9:00am – 12:15pm
9:00-9:40 - Richard Blackaby, President, Blackaby Ministeries International
Spiritual Leadership
God has a dream, or purpose for every person on earth and when we embrace it, everyone around us is blessed. But life has a sinister way of squelching our vision and leaving us discouraged. Only God knows how much people suffer today because they surrendered their God-given dream yesterday! If your life is not the blessing God intended for it to be, let him bring you back to himself and do a fresh work in your life so you are the blessing to others God always intended for you to be.
9:40-10:10 - Michael Kelley, Executive Director, Nashville Baptist Association
Seeing Associational Work with Fresh Eyes
Can associational work still have value in a culture of churches which are increasingly isolated, self-reliant, and independent? If so, we must begin to see the work of the local association through a different lens which requires a different strategy. This session is a start to articulating new principles and practices for work in order that the local association might continue to be a valuable partner for the local church.
10:10-10:40 - Bob Bickford, NAMB
Is it always possible to revitalize a church? When should it be replanted? This breakout explores the difference between revitalization and replanting and explains when you should consider these options.
10:40-11:10 - Jason Lowe, AMS, Pike Association, Pikeville, Kentucky
Every association will experience pastor turnover in its member churches. This session will provide a strategic associational framework to assist churches in transition. Topics will include working with the pastor search committee, helping the church during the search, interim pastor strategies, calling out the called for future ministry opportunities, and succession planning.
11:10-11:40 - Dr. Jeff Iorg, President, Gateway Seminary
The most challenging aspect of senior leadership is keeping an organization riveted on its mission. Competing agendas, vocal critics, and urgent demands for action all detract from laser-like focus on our mission. Preventing mission-drift is vital to organizational health. Leaders can limit this drift by intentional choices about missional alignment. This seminar will focus on practical ways to do it.
11:40-12:15 - Rick Curtis, NAMB
Rick will delve into the importance of having identified your primary and secondary mindset in associational work. Additionally, he will discuss the importance of enhancing your communication skills based on understanding the hearer’s perspective.
